Fish & Wildlife Regulation Change Process (2026)
What is this process about?
The Yukon Fish and Wildlife Management Board is seeking input on proposed changes to fish and wildlife regulations in the Yukon.
Regulations are the rules that govern how we manage fish and wildlife populations and their habitats in the Yukon. These rules guide harvest, conservation, and stewardship efforts across the territory.
The regulation change process allows the public to be directly involved in the sustainable management and conservation of fish and wildlife populations in the Yukon.
Every other year, regulations are reviewed to ensure they remain effective, fair, and responsive to changing ecological conditions, community values, and knowledge.
The Board collaborates with the Government of Yukon to manage this process. The Board leads the public engagement opportunities and develops recommendations based on all the feedback it receives. The government provides technical support, government-to-government consultations, and final decision-making.
Our Commitment to You
We commit to seek broad public feedback on the proposed regulation changes and will keep the public informed, ensure diverse voices and perspectives are heard, and acknowledge public concerns and aspirations. We also commit to sharing public feedback received during the process through our What We Heard Report and sharing our recommendations to the Minister of Environment.
Your participation ensures that Yukoners’ voices, experiences, and knowledge are considered in decisions and processes related to the management of our natural resources, habitats and iconic Yukon wildlife.
