Summary of proposed regulation change:

This proposal will increase the range of harvest management tools available in order to better respond to pressures on Yukon’s Moose Population while maintaining hunting opportunities. Some adaptive management measures are in place to manage moose in three regions already (Southern Lakes, Aishihik, and Faro) and the government wants a suite of adaptive tools to be available Yukon-wide.

Board recommendation:

The Board recommended the Minister set aside the proposal.

Status of Board recommendation:

The Minister of Environment accepted the Board’s recommendation.

Outcome in regulation:

Not yet enacted in legislation. No regulation has come into effect.
