The Yukon Fish and Game Association is hosting a HOOK UP meeting with recreational anglers on October 18th from 6:30-9pm at Mount McIntyre in Whitehorse.

At this meeting we will discuss our current Lake Trout and Salmon fishery. The evening is designed to hear directly from recreational anglers with a focus on the conservation, management and sustainable utilization of these two important species.

2017 Alex VanBibber Sharing the Land Scholarship Submission Deadline

The Yukon Fish & Wildlife Management Board offers TWO $1,000 scholarships to students interested in continuing the connection between people and the land through post-secondary educational training (university and college). Submit a 1000 word essay outlining what significance the Yukon’s wilderness holds for you and how your field of study will enable you to continue sharing the land with fish and wildlife in a significant way.

For example: you are pursuing a Science degree to conduct wildlife research; or an Arts degree to write poetry inspired by northern landscapes; or your Business degree will help you do business that contributes to a healthy environment.

Public Engagement & Information Session On the Review of the 2012 Changes to the Fisheries Act

The Yukon Fish & Wildlife Management Board and the Yukon Salmon Sub-Committee in coordination with Fisheries & Oceans Canada is holding an Engagement Session open to the public on the Review of the Changes to the Fisheries Act on August 8th, 2017 from 6-9 pm in the Multi Purpose room, at the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre, Whitehorse.

Come talk fish and fish habitat with us!

Session Objectives

  1. DFO will communicate what it heard from Canadians in the first round of engagement on the review, present the Government’s response to the Standing Committee report, explain the parliamentary process and timelines and explore concepts for policy and program changes.
  2. Provide an opportunity to review and discuss the direction the Government is taking on the review of the changes to the Fisheries Act

YFWMB will continue facilitating the public review of the Draft Elk Management Plan in the Yukon at the following upcoming public meetings:

Whitehorse:  October 6th, 7-9 pm, Yukon Inn
Carmacks:  October 8th, 7-9 pm, Carmacks Community Recreation Centre

The public review period for this draft plan is between September 14, 2015 and October 13, 2015, inclusively.  If you wish to provide comment online, please do so through this online survey.
